In the Flow with Healing Waters

What do you do with your time?

I don’t have enough time.                                                                                                                                         He has too much time on his hands.                                                                                                                      Time passes too quickly.                                                                                                                                          Time can stand still.                                                                                                                                                   Our time is a gift we can give away to others.                                                                                                        Some say time heals.                                                                                                                                                 We can have a good time.                                                                                                                                         Sometimes we have a bad time.                                                                                                                               Time can be of the essence.                                                                                                                                   Sometimes we wish someone had had more time.                                                                                               There will be a day when it’s “our time.”

Time is an interesting thing. In many ways how we think about time is our own perception. I may view something as a waste of time and you may consider the same thing as time well spent.

The idea of time often creates impatience in me. I tend to have unrealistic expectations about what I can do in a given amount of time. Rather than appreciating what I accomplished I often focus on what I did not get done. Energetically we can block our base center when patience becomes an issue.

Sometimes I have anxiety over time. When I was young, I had to be at work by 6 am. I had two children to get to daycare before I went to work. I always had everything ready the night before, however, many mornings were hectic and I had anxiety. I realized not that long ago that I often feel anxious in the morning when I am getting ready for the day. I believe it is a pattern created all those years ago that I have carried with me into my life today. I can say it does not serve me well. Anxiety can create all types of problems for us. It can affect our heart, our mood, our sleep, high blood pressure, headaches, sleep issues, irritability, panic attacks, and depression to name a few.

What about our time that we give to others? Do you sometimes give your time willingly with an open heart and sometimes with resentment and annoyance? Resentment can block the center in the back of your neck, which can create neck pain, shoulder pain, and other problems.

There are so many things that can be considered regarding time. I found these quotes that spoke to me so I will share them with you.

“It’s not that we have little time, but more that we waste a lot of it.” -Seneca

“Time is one of your most valuable commodities and how you spend it determines what your life will be. You can either waste it, invest it, or give it away.”-David Khalil

“I don’t dwell in the past; I don’t wallow in old events and emotions. I don’t waste time on regret. No use in going over and over the details of what already happened.” -Yanni

“If people would reflect that one can only do one thing at a time and therefore there is never more than one thing to do at a time, there would be less fatigue in the world.” -Emmet Fox

“How many things in your life do you do automatically, routinely, that are a waste of time but you don’t take the time to remedy them?” -Robert S. Scott

“They always say time changes everything, but actually you have to change them yourself.”-Andy Warhol

Yesterday is the past. Tomorrow is the future. Today is a gift that is why it is called the present. This quote is a good reminder that we need to appreciate the time we have because not everyone is lucky enough to have it.

At the end of the day, we all have 24 hours to decide how we will spend each minute. On a broader spectrum, we get to decide how we live our dash, meaning the time from the day we are born until the day we die. What do you want that to look like for you? It’s a choice. Maybe you find yourself living in the past with regret, what-ifs, resentment, anger, sadness, blame, etc. Or maybe you are focused on the future creating fear, worry, and anxiety. We can choose to live in the present with an open heart creating happiness and joy. Choose wisely.
