The art of Living Well

The Art of Living Well

I have a new favorite yogurt, it is OUI by Yoplait. So far, my very favorite flavor is strawberry, it is the perfect treat after dinner. It is just the right size; I love the creamy texture and it satisfies my sweet tooth.

On the inside of the cover, it sometimes has a saying. I recently read one that said, “the art of living well.” I began to ponder what does living well mean?

To me, it means to have my loved ones around me, live in the present moment, and

to be the best version of myself.

Then I wondered, what does it mean for others? I thought for some it might be living in wealth. Someone might feel living well is when everything is in its place and things look good. Yet for others maybe it is living off the land and everything they eat is organic.

I am certain for every one of us we would say something a bit different.

I don’t believe there is a right or wrong way to live well and that your way is perfect for you.

I wonder if it is simply living well no matter what it means.  Do it for you and feel it!

Not just hoping for it, not just striving for it, not waiting, or dreaming it.

How do you live well?

Identify it and do it, live it, and if you are not…. then start, like now.

If we don’t start now, when would we ever do it?

I have decided that I am going to play more than I have in the past few years. I used to play a lot more and I miss it.

So, play with me and see what happens, I will do this too and report back.

Let’s play a game and see what it is that gets you living well.

List 3-5 things that make your heart happy.

List 3 things you can do today or (within the week) that brings you joy.

Laugh hard 3 times this week.

Let’s start to play more, laugh harder, and feel the joy in our hearts.

Side note, before I wrote this blog, and it was before I ate the yogurt and saw the note. My 5 year old grandson was over. He had brought a toy that he could build things. He made a thing that he called a paddle and started to move it through the air singing row, row, row your boat.

He then wanted me to get in the boat with him, so he sat in the boat in front of me and I was in the back. I started paddling before him which made our boat start going in circles.

Then he started rowing and it straightened the boat out. Before we knew it, we were heading for a waterfall, quickly we made it to shore, he looked back at me and said I WANT TO GO OVER THE WATERFALL. So we did, it felt like a roller coaster ride (he had just been to the Mall of America on a rollercoaster ride) We made it through the waterfall and I got wet.
He told me that wasn’t even possible because there was a roof over us, and I couldn’t get wet.

My daughter was at the house and witnessed the whole thing, she began to laugh and said something about imaginations not being the same for all of us.

Play, it is important, do you remember how to?
