Liver: The Underrated Organ
When we think about what gives us life in the body, we rarely think of the liver. The heart, lungs, kidneys, you can’t live without them. But what about the liver? Truth is, the liver is the largest organ in your body, other than your skin, and it can regenerate like a starfish. It plays a vital role in many body functions you may not even realize.
The liver holds 13% of your blood supply at any given moment! It is essential in proper digestion and acts as a filter for everything you come in contact with. It filters food toxins (yes, that cupcake too), environmental toxins that come through the skin, medications, alcohol, anesthesia, chemo and more. It is an essential part of your digestion and bile production. This bile is a chemical that helps turn fats into energy.
You may already be aware of this, but did you know it also processes emotions in the body? When we are “too nice” and swallow our anger, it congests the liver (a common Midwest trait). Unprocessed grief, fear and rage also get stuck in the liver. If your liver load becomes too great, you will begin experiencing symptoms of liver congestion. Left untreated, it can lead to disease over the long term. Symptoms of liver congestion include: feeling sluggish and “blah”, low energy and immunity, skin conditions, waking up hot at night, feeling short tempered and easily frustrated, digestive issues, hip and knee pain. You could have all or only some of these symptoms.
So, what can we do? Liver flushes are a popular trend to support the liver. However, they usually require taking certain supplements or drinking concoctions over the course of days or weeks. These usually lead to unpleasant side effects including loose stools and pain.
The good news for you is we have a better option! We offer a gentle, non-invasive energetic liver flush. This is extremely effective without the lengthy time commitment and stress on the digestive system.
This treatment is essential support for those who have experienced chemo or radiation, surgery, take daily medications, have had a gallbladder removed, or who are experiencing the symptoms above.
You can also eat liver friendly foods, which include:
Coffee– Yes, there is a health benefit to your morning go-go juice! Coffee increases antioxidants levels in the liver and decreases inflammation. This lowers your risk of developing fatty liver disease.
Blueberries and Cranberries– These are also high in antioxidants and improve immune and antioxidant responses. This helps protect the liver.
Cruciferous vegetables– Broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, mustard greens all increase the livers natural detoxification enzymes, protect it and offer improved blood levels of liver enzymes.
So, give your liver some love for all the behind the scenes work it is doing for you! It has a big job!
