A Challenge for Spring

Spring is here.  The green grass, the flowers, and the buds on the trees are back.   But there are also lots of spring projects.  A lot of people have probably felt “on hold” through the winter waiting for the cold temperatures to be gone and then starting to get back outside so we can get things done.

I know for myself, I make a huge list for myself and check them off as I go.  I feel so accomplished when I check most to all the items off my list.

I am realizing I get into “Go mode”  most springs.  Get the yard ready, buy and plant flowers, clean out the cars, wash the windows, get out the yard furniture, the list goes on and on.   Writing this blog and reflecting on 2020  has helped me become aware.  Covid year made me look at things differently.  I remember last spring, things came to a standstill for a short time during March and April.  My life slowed down to a halt, like a lot of people’s lives did, and I remember how much I was seeing, hearing, and experiencing.

I was hearing birds, seeing flowers, sitting in the sun and enjoying the beauty and amazement of this earth.

When we get some space to sit back and see things, we can then have the awareness and make choices from that new place.  I had space to reflect.  We all had space to reflect.  With my reflections from last spring, I am taking my new awareness into my current spring.

Things have started back up and at a faster pace than last year,  I am challenged to stay in the present while completing my long list of activities.  I can do both.  I can be aware of the colors in the flowerbeds as I rake.  I can be aware of the sounds in the neighborhood as I pick up the yard.  I can hear bird singing, I can feel the grass under my feet as I walk around.

When we stay in the awareness, we are present.

Healing Waters challenges you to be in the moment this spring and see how different that feels.
